Montrose Museum

Founded in 1842 by Montrose Natural History and Antiquarian Society, Montrose Museum was built in a neo-classical style with ionic columns at the entrance, inspired by Greek temples of learning. Inside, the galleries display an incredible array of artefacts from the earliest archaeological finds to the legendary Marquis of Montrose. Montrose was once branded ‘the most disloyal and disaffected town in Scotland’ – visit to find out about its Jacobite history and see the unique objects we have on display.
